Made from tough 5" square 3/16" thick tubular steel, the vertical post and extension arm provide unbeatable strength and stability. Safety is also a top priority, with the post set back 52". The extension arm is attached to the post with six high tensile 5/8" bolts, and can be secured at any height along the post.

First Team offers a range of basketball backboards and rims with the Legend Jr., including the authentic gymnasium-style ball reaction of the Response tempered glass backboard. To ensure added safety, pole padding and backboard padding are available for most Legend Jr. packages. CONSTRUCTION

All steel pole components are welded using maximum penetration, continuous weld, MIG procedure.

EXTENSION ARM

Main 45 degree extension arm tube is 5"x5" rectangular 3/16" wall steel tubing and provides a 52" extension from front of pole to face of backboard. Arm is designed to allow backboard to be mounted at four places top and bottom to eliminate rust streaks from forming on face of board.

EXTENSION ARM FACEPLATE

The backboard mounting plate on the pole is ¼" thick and extends the full height of the backboard. A 4" square, 1/8" wall secondary arm tube further supports the backboard mounting plate.

MOUNTING

Arm is attached to the pole by means of two ½" thick steel plates sandwiched around the 5" pole. One plate is welded to the arm, the other used as a crimp plate on the backside of the pole. Six 5/8" high-strength bolts pass through the two plates and when tightened bolt the arm at the desired height. Rim height is adjustable from 6' to 10'.

VERTICAL UPRIGHT

Vertical pole is 5" square 3/16" wall steel tubing and allows for burying 42" in concrete. Pole has a watertight vinyl cap to seal out moisture. 

RIM

Flexible rim absorbs the stress of player contact. Nylon net included. 5/8" diameter. 

DIRECT-RIM MOUNT

Rim and backboard are attached to the pole by passing four high-strength steel bolts through the rim, backboard, and pole so that weight suspended from the rim is transferred directly to the pole structure. The backboard is mounted to the pole at four places along the top and bottom, eliminating common rust streaks found on units where backboard is bolted through face.
