HyperJam 60" & 72" Wall Mount Hoop Installation Guide

Everything you need to safely install your HyperJam Adjustable Wall Mount Basketball Hoop. The installation process is identical for both the 60" and 72" models — only the backboard size differs.

Safety Information

  • Consulting a licensed contractor or structural engineer prior to installation is highly recommended.
  • Minimum three people required for installation.
  • Do not hang or climb on the rim or backboard.
  • Inspect the system before each use.

The manufacturer assumes no responsibility for damage or injury resulting from improper installation or insufficient structural support.

Installation Requires

  • 3 capable adults
  • Ability to safely lift components weighing up to 106 lbs (48 kg)
  • Estimated installation time: 2–3 hours

Tools Required (Not Included)

  • Hammer drill (for concrete or masonry installations)
  • Appropriate drill bits (based on wall type)
  • 4 ft level
  • Tape measure
  • Socket set and wrench set
  • Torque wrench
  • Ladder
  • Safety glasses

Structural Requirements

⚠ CRITICAL SAFETY WARNING: WALL BACKING REQUIREMENTS Improper mounting can result in serious wall damage, severe personal injury, or death. The bracket must be anchored to a structural wall backing capable of supporting the full dynamic load of play. Minimum 1,000 pounds of downforce capacity required.
✓ Suitable Backing
  • Solid concrete (min. 4" thick)
  • Reinforced concrete masonry units (CMU / cinder block)
  • Solid brick (structural, not veneer)
  • Wood framing with 2×6 or larger studs, 16" or 24" on center
  • Steel I-beam or structural steel column
✗ Not Suitable
  • Drywall or plaster alone (no structural framing)
  • Brick veneer without solid backing
  • Paneling, siding, or stucco without structural substrate
  • Hollow-core or non-load-bearing walls
  • Metal stud framing (consult a licensed contractor)

Sheetrock / Drywall Walls

Proper wall backing must be installed before mounting. Backing height: 88" to 120" from floor.

  • During framing: have a carpenter install backing inside the designated stud cavities before sheetrock is finished.
  • Retrofit (finished room): install 2"×10" or 2"×12" clear lumber horizontally on the outside of the wall. Boards must be doubled and cut long enough to fasten into 3 studs.
  • Lumber: 2"×10" or 2"×12" clear, defect-free
  • Min. thickness: 3 inches  |  Bracket width: 17¾"  |  Force rating: 1,000 lbs downward

Concrete Walls

  • Solid concrete walls that are 8" thick and at the correct height do not require additional backing.
  • If the concrete does not reach the required backing height, proper backing must be added above.
  • Consult a structural engineer to verify 1,000 lb downforce capacity.

Hollow or Cinderblock Walls

⚠ Consult a structural engineer before installing on hollow or cinderblock walls.
⚠ DO NOT PROCEED WITHOUT PROPER BACKING Make sure there is proper backing in the wall before the hoop is installed. Failure to follow proper backing instructions may result in property damage, serious injury, or possibly death.

Installation Steps

Mount Wall Frame

  • Determine where to place the frame on your wall.
  • Measure 83.5" from the playing surface and mark a horizontal reference line.
  • Position Wall Frame (A) with bottom aligned to the mark, using a level to ensure the frame is perfectly vertical and horizontal.
  • Mark anchor hole locations with a marker.
  • Set Wall Frame (A) down and drill holes into wall, then insert wall anchors (#1) into the holes.
  • Place Wall Frame (A) on the wall, securing with 12 sets of (#2), (#3), and (#4) washers and bolts.

Install Extension Arms

  • Attach Upper Arms (B) to Wall Frame (A) using specified hardware. Do not fully tighten yet.
  • Attach Lower Arm (C) to Wall Frame (A) using specified hardware.
  • Tighten all fasteners, but ensure free movement is maintained at pivot points.

Install Height Actuator & Spring Assist

IMPORTANT: Do NOT remove the spreader tube on the Spring Assist until the entire hoop, including backboard, is fully installed.
  • Attach Spring Assist (D) to Wall Frame (A) and Lower Extension Arm (C) using two sets of #11, #7, #8, #8, #7, #9 as shown.
  • Attach Height Actuator (E) to Wall Frame (A) and Lower Extension Arm (C) using two sets of #11, #7, #8, #8, #7, #9 as shown.

Install Triangle Brackets on Backboard

  • Remove Backboard (F) from box.
  • Attach 4 triangle brackets to the backboard using twelve M8×40 bolts, four flat washers, and 12 locknuts as shown.

Attach Backboard

IMPORTANT: Minimum three people are required for this step.
  • Crank Extension Arm (C) as low as possible.
  • Attach Backboard (F) to Lower Extension Arm (C) using hardware shown.
  • Attach Backboard (F) to Upper Extension Arms (B) using hardware shown.

Rim Assembly

  • Mount Rim (G) to the mounting bracket on the backboard using four sets of hardware #13, #2, #3, and #4.
  • Put the rubber gasket between the rim and backboard.
  • Attach the spring box cover to the rim with two sets of #14 and #15.
  • Fix the net on the rim by twisting net loops 90° clockwise and inserting through assigned rim attachments and cover hooks on the underside of the rim.

Apply Height Sticker

  • Use a tape measure to crank the rim to exactly 10 ft from the playing surface.
  • Use a pencil to mark on Height Actuator (E) where the bottom of the height indicator stops.
  • Peel and apply Height Sticker (H) to the Height Actuator, lining up the pencil mark with the 10 ft mark.

Final Inspection

Do not use the system if any components appear loose, damaged, or improperly installed.

  • Verify that all nuts, bolts, and fasteners are fully tightened.
  • Confirm that the wall frame is securely anchored and does not move when force is applied.
  • Ensure all pivot points move freely without binding.
  • Raise and lower the system through the full height range to confirm smooth operation.
  • Confirm that the rim and backboard are level and properly aligned.

Routine Maintenance

Environmental conditions, usage frequency, and exposure to elements can affect performance and lifespan. Inspect the system regularly.

Hardware Inspection

  • Periodically inspect all nuts, bolts, and mounting hardware.
  • Tighten any loose fasteners and replace any damaged hardware.

Structural Inspection

  • Inspect all frame components, arms, and mounting brackets for signs of excessive wear, bending, or damage.
  • Replace any damaged or excessively worn components immediately.

Rust and Paint Protection

  • Inspect all metal components for rust, corrosion, chipped paint, or exposed metal.
  • If corrosion or paint damage is present, clean the area and apply rust protection and touch-up paint.
  • If rust has penetrated any structural component, discontinue use immediately and replace the affected parts.
Replacement Parts Use only manufacturer-approved replacement parts. Use of non-approved components may cause system failure and will void the product warranty. Contact support for replacement parts.
